The History of Toyota in Angola dates back to the late 1950s, when Imauto began importing the first Toyota cars. With Angola's independence on November 11, 1975, several companies were confiscated, including Imauto and agents of other brands. To deal with this situation, Abamat – a public car import company – was created. It was then 1977, when Abamat began to import models of the Toyota brand. Given the success of the Toyota brand in the Angolan market, Toyota Tsusho Corporation opened a representative office in our country in 1983. But it was not until 1991 that Toyota de Angola was created, the result of a Joint Venture between Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) and the company Lonrho. 2001 saw new developments in this company, with Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) acquiring 50% of Lonrho, thus becoming the sole shareholder. 2005 marks another stage for Toyota in Angola, with the inauguration of its Headquarters at Rua N'gola Mbandi.
